Feral Goat
Characteristics
The average weight of a female feral goat is up to 40kg and the average weight of a male feral goat goes up to 60kg.
Diet
The feral goat is a consumer, not a producer because it eats plants and small animals and doesn’t produce anything besides faeces. It is both a predator and prey because although it can hunt down and kill smaller animals, bigger animals can kill it and eat it.
Predators
The predators of the feral goat include crocodiles and tigers, because they hunt and eat them. Humans are also predators of Feral Goats because they have hunted Feral Goat over time for fun or for food.
Distribution and Abundance
The main concentrations are in western New South Wales, southern Queensland, central eastern South Australia and Western Australia. No known populations currently occur in the southern region of the Northern Territory. Feral goats do occur on a few offshore islands: North East, North Goulburn, Truant, and Vanderlin. The feral goat is found in Australia, Crete, England, Galapagos, Ireland, Juan Fernandez, New Zealand, Scotland, United States and Wales.
Habitat
These goats are most commonly found on rocky or hilly country. Goats aren’t usually found on flat treeless plains but can be found on flat country with dense shrub cover.
